A good Choice for fishing light to medium jigs and worms, the 783 was designed to fish bass, northerns and even walleyes in certain applications. But it also makes a very nice light saltwater rod for snook, redfish and specs. It's powerful, with a light tip, which allows for a good hookset, and still has enough power to move fish away from cover, without feeling too stiff. If we had to choose one casting rod for all of our fishing, the 783 would be our choice.

Designed for Largemouth bass, but it doubles nicely for big northerns and light-duty Muskie fishing. The tip is stiff, with a magnum butt for moving large fish in heavy cover. It excels in brushy, tree-choked areas where you need a powerful rod to get the fish to the boat. It's also the perfect choice for fishing heavy jigs or large plastic worms in deep water where" feel " is paramount, and for heavy-duty spoon-jigging, where your ability to set the hook in deep water especially important.

When you pitch a jig into a small, brushy opening, you have to pull the fish out of that same hole. There's no getting around it. And when those fish are 5-pound-plus largemouths, your rod had better be stout. Largemouths, especially big ones, may not have the stamina to last in a long fight, but you won't find a fish that pulls harder for 20 or 30 seconds-especially in heavy cover. It requires a rod with plenty of backbone. One that's light enough to use all day, yet that quickly reacts with authority. That's exactly where the 785 comes in. It has a magnum fast taper with an extra-strong tip, which means when you move the rod, the fish comes with it. It's as simple as that.

Spinning
This is our most popular warmwater spinning rod. It boasts a fast action and a strong tip, giving you plenty of versatility for fishing a variety of lures and live baits. Best paired with 10-pound line, this is an excellent choice for fishing Long-A's or Rapalas, as well as 1/4-ounce lead-heads for swimming salt grubs. It's also a good rod for 4-inch "Texas-style" worm rigs or tube jigs. There's plenty of power to set the hook, and it handles big fish extremely well, yet it's light enough to enjoy smaller-size fish, no problem. If you prefer spinning rods, you'll appreciate the accuracy and flexibility this rod offers.

Spinning
A powerful spinning rod designed to fish deep-water situations with jigging spoons, grubs and plastic worms, the 723 makes a great rod in light to medium-heavy cover. The fast taper allows you to move fish away from snags and still offers maximum accuracy and lure control. We rate it for up to 15-pound line, but it's probably best suited to 12-pound test. Its powerful butt section and tip make it a good choice for deep-water situations where sensitivity and fast recovery are paramount to success.

The 6-foot length allows low trajectory, accurate casts, and more than enough muscle to move large fish away from trouble. You'll appreciate the sensitivity and power for deep-water jig and spoon fishing.

Spinning
A specialty rod for fishing lighter line on large streams and clear, deep-water lakes. The extra length creates a wider arc and increased tip speed, giving you greater casting distance. It also moves more line during the hook set, critical to success in deep water situations. Designed to fish smaller lures-especially in open water situations where light line makes a difference. A terrific deep-water crappie rod for big, brush-filled lakes where you might need slightly heavier tackle.

Spinning
One of our most versatile warmwater spinning rods, the 782 has a fast taper for a more positive hook set and greater casting distance. The extra length provides better line and lure control, especially in deep water, where slack line may cost you a fish. A good choice for fishing minnow baits like the Long-A and Rapala, and the preferred rod for split-shotting worms and grubs. If your preference for bass is spin over cast, this is a good-no, make that great rod.

A fast, powerful taper, it'll fish jigs and worms, as well as soft jerkbaits, and even live bait. A good choice for fishing plastic worms or grubs in deep water, especially in moderate cover where more power is required. "Schoolie" stripers don't stand a chance. If you want one rod to fish a lot of different situations, this is the one.
